The luxurious scent of a bygone era. (Our very first fragrance, no less.) It's 1872, and in the Turkish baths of Mayfair, heady lavender, rose and sandalwood rub shoulders. Pass me a towel, old chap.
Lavender and sandalwood rub shoulders in the fragrant Turkish baths of Mayfair.
MORE INFORMATION
Our story starts with our founder, William Penhaligon. A humble Cornish barber who rose to the Royal Court, and trimmed the Shah of Persia's beard. The year is 1870.
William's first perfume was Hammam Bouquet, inspired by the Turkish Baths where he was resident barber, cutting the hair of Mayfair's bright young things. The fragrance was exciting. The bright young things went wild. A parade of fabulous fragrances followed.
Today, a century and a half later, Penhaligon's is perhaps the world's most celebrated fragrance house. We hold two Royal Warrants and continue to entertain the world's nostrils with a dose of Britishness, and dazzling scents.
